Do Less, So You Can Do More

by Amy Greene |

Our time is more valuable than our money. You can’t get time back. We don’t know how much time we have left. You can’t just go and make more time, more hours in the day.

Time is finite.

However we (and I include myself here) cram our days chock-a-block full with commitments, appointments, activities, and obligations. We take on more than we can actually handle. We see a 15-minute window in our calendar and we fill it with something we won’t actually have time to do.

Why do we do that?

It’s just like our money. We want to buy something. We think, oh this isn’t too much, it’s just a few bucks, I can make the payment, I deserve it, my child wants it, we need it, etc.

We are amazing at justifying what we want, aren’t we?

The same applies to our time.

Just like money, these commitments and appointments and obligations drown us.

We sleep less, skip meals, and get cranky because we’re overwhelmed and exhausted.

Here’s my solution to you:

STOP.

Stop cramming your calendar full with things that are unimportant and unnecessary.
Stop agreeing to do things you don’t want to do.
Stop pleasing others at the sacrifice of your finances, health, sleep, and well being.
This is much harder to do, I know. I’m right in this with you. So let me ask you this:

What can you say no to in the next 7 days?

What can you take off your calendar so that you can actually breathe?

And if you do say no to something, cancel an appointment, or remove yourself from a committee or obligation, share it with me! I’d love to know what you’re saying no to.

How we manage our time impacts how we manage our money.

Put the oxygen mask on you first.

XOXO,

Amy
