Fear Factor: life insurance. Part Two: the fear of dying.

Fear Factor: life insurance.

Part Two: the fear of dying.

This series of posts discusses the fears that prevent people from buying the life insurance they need. The first fear we will address is the fear of dying.

I have found that this fear is behind the excuse of “buying life insurance is not important right now.” How do i know this? Well, take a look at what is happening:

They know they need the coverage;

They know the benefit will be payable upon their demise;

They know that life insurance underwriting will focus on the factors that could cause their death;

And they know that they could die at any time, despite all the supplements they take, and how many times they go to the gym. Accidents do happen.

Once you connect the dots, you realize that the whole proposition of insuring their own life, is intimidating. And I could not blame them. People much prefer to contemplate ways to have fun, and make money, and experience new things. Not ways they could die.

So what happens? Either they find ways to transcend that fear – maybe through martial arts, or other personal growth training; or maybe just through life itself…

… or maybe they never beat the fear, and they never get the coverage.

Hopefully, for the sake of their family and business, they do find the strength to persevere.

In our next post, we will discuss the fear of losing time.
